Shaping the Future is an annual conference that draws delegates from the education, active living, recreation, health and research sectors to discuss and learn about comprehensive school health. Each year, the conference provides an opportunity for delegates to network, share and gather information, evidence based strategies and engage in personal and professional growth and development.
School health and student wellbeing is an ongoing conversation with national interest. In this spirit, we are excited to announce that the 2018 Shaping the Future will also be on a national stage and will be bring together leaders from across the country.
Partnerships with OPHEA from Ontario, DASH BC from British Columbia, Saskatchewan In Motion, the Joint Consortium for School Health and Physical and Health Education Canada afford an opportunity to amplify the importance of wellness in schools across Canada and coordinate action across provinces.
This year, we acknowledge that Shaping the Future is on Treaty 7 Territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to Stoney Nakoda, Tsuut’ina, and Blackfoot peoples. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries, and would like to honour Elders, both past and those present with us today.
