READY TO RUN… OR FUNDRAISE!

Ever Active Schools hosted the comfiest gala of the year in May! Guests wore their best attire and their favourite running shoes to make the inaugural Running Shoe Gala a hit… and perhaps a new fashion trend?

The Running Shoe Gala is a fundraising event in support of Ever Active Schools and healthy futures for all children. Throughout the night, we celebrated work completed, in-progress and yet to come across Alberta and beyond. Between ticket sales, the silent auction (including many bidding wars) and direct donations from our generous supporters, we raised more than $19,000 to invest in healthy school communities.

As if the location at the beautiful Art Gallery of Alberta in downtown Edmonton wasn’t enough, we were treated to some incredible local entertainment. Chubby Cree, featuring 12-year-old singer Noah, who has made headlines locally for his incredible voice, wowed the crowd with hand drums and powerful vocals. Darrell Brertton Jr. brought smiles to every face as he played the flute, shared teachings about traditional Indigenous dance styles and blew everyone away with his fancy dance moves. The Camrose Spirals, Leduc Connectivity Skippers, and Heartland High Energy – Skipping teams from Rope Skipping Alberta – also made an impression, showing off their speed and tricks for a cheering audience.

As an organization, we are blown away by the support we’ve received for our work. As individuals and members of the community, we are incredibly excited to see the impact of this fundraiser for our local students. Thank you to everyone who supported Ever Active Schools and healthy futures for all children through this exciting and oh-so-comfortable fundraising event!

The second annual Running Shoe Gala will take place in Calgary in May 2023! Click here to learn more.
