MENTORING RESOURCES AND THE ALBERTA MENTORING PARTNERSHIP
Submitted by Alberta Mentoring Partnership
MENTORING IS AN EVIDENCE-BASED STRATEGY THAT SUPPORTS STUDENTS’ MENTAL HEALTH, SENSE OF BELONGING AND CONNECTEDNESS, ENGAGEMENT AND ATTENDANCE, HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION AND ULTIMATELY SUCCESS IN AND BEYOND SCHOOL.
In addition, mentoring contributes to a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environment.
The Alberta Mentoring Partnership (AMP) is a network of community mentoring agencies, government and youth working together to raise the profile of mentoring in Alberta, with a mission of working together to strengthen Alberta’s capacity to support and enhance mentoring. It exists to help schools and mentoring agencies meet the needs of the children and youth they serve, contributing to better health and well-being. At its most basic level, mentoring assures a young person that there are adults who care about them and can help them deal with day-to-day challenges. By providing access to mentoring resources and toolkits, training materials, and research, AMP builds the capacity of school and agency partners to deliver great mentorship programming. AMP is working to ensure that every young person in Alberta who needs a mentor has access to one.
Are you looking for ways to support your students’ social and emotional growth? Have questions about mentoring and how it fits into your school? Did you know that your students hit all of the competencies when they are building mentoring skills, mentoring others, and can, at the high school level, earn credits as well? Alberta Mentoring Partnership is your no-fee resource, dedicated to the success of mentoring agencies, schools, and programs across the province.
