Games and Activities to Optimize Self Regulation

We’ve compiled a variety of games for all ages that challenge working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility – three types of brain function that support self regulation.

Self regulation and executive functioning are critical supports for learning and development. The activities in this resource require three distinct types of brain function, which all support executive functioning and self regulation:

  1. Working Memory
  2. Inhibitory Control
  3. Cognitive Flexibility

The games and activities can be played in a variety of ways that suit the context and need of your class. All games include a list of supplies (and suggested variations), and directions on set-up and play.
