Last week Ever Active Schools brought together over 500 delegates from the education, health promotion, active living and research sectors for the ninth annualShaping the Future conference.
As the largest comprehensive school health conference in Canada, the event was a unique opportunity to highlight the connections between school health, student well-being and overall learning outcomes, while raising the profile of comprehensive school health issues on a provincial, territorial and national level.
The four day conference addressed current and emerging topics related to comprehensive school health – including healthy eating, physical activity, mental well-being, equity, Indigenous health and natural playgrounds.
By bringing together professionals from different sectors, we were able to expand our own knowledge and understanding of comprehensive school health while also strengthening the collective voice we use to speak on issues of school health and wellness.
Participants left with new connections, ideas and tools they can use in their own work across the country, which we hope will create a national ripple effect of positive and lasting change for students, educators and school communities.
