Everybody Plays, currently supported by Canadian Tire Jumpstart, was launched in 2017. Through this programming, we are aiming for children and youth to have 100% opportunity for active participation through recreation, sport and performance arts at school. We focus on:
- 100% opportunity so that everybody plays
- Priority populations so that everybody plays
- Capacity building through grassroots approaches so that everybody plays
The program reaches thousands of youth across Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Yukon each year and utilizes four key "activations" specifically engineered to drive progress in core well-being domains:
Everybody Plays exists to close Canada’s growing participation gap in physical activity—where only 21% of youth meet daily movement recommendations, participation among teenage girls has dropped to just 8%, and rising costs are pricing many families out of sport and recreation. The program removes financial and systemic barriers to ensure every child has access to meaningful, daily movement opportunities in school. By creating inclusive environments and building local leadership capacity, Everybody Plays helps young people move more, feel a stronger sense of belonging, and develop the confidence to lead active communities where everybody can play.
